Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sends heartfelt invitation to terminally-ill Sven-Goran Eriksson after ex-England boss reveals dying wish following pancreatic cancer diagnosis

Eriksson has revealed that he has at "best" a year to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The former England manager has also opened up on his lifelong love for Liverpool and says that he's always wished he could have managed the Reds. Liverpool fans have since urged the club to allow Eriksson to manage the LFC legends team in a charity match, and Klopp has said the Swede is welcome to do his job for a day.

Klopp told reporters: "It was obviously very touching news when you heard about it. I heard for the first time about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a fan for his whole life. I heard now about the Legends [game] and stuff like that. I'm not in charge of that.

"The only thing I can say is absolutely he's very welcome to come here and he can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day if he wants. That's no problem. Being on the sideline might be a little bit more difficult. To have him here and show him everything and how this wonderful club developed over the years, I think that's definitely something we will tell him. He can come over and have a few wonderful hours here, I'm sure."

Eriksson has received messages of support from all over the football world since speaking out about his cancer diagnosis. The Swede has also revealed he has been invited to the Liverpool Legends game but has played down talk that he could take charge of the team.

The charity match between the LFC Legends and Ajax is due to take place at Anfield on Sunday, March 23. Proceeds from the game will support the work of LFC Foundation and charity partners. Sir Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush have been slated to manage the Reds in the match.
