According to AS, Mbappe's gesture impressed his team-mates and club officials as they appreciated his decisive attitude. He also reportedly spoke to some of his colleagues individually in the dressing room to motivate them, which has clearly indicated that the France captain is willing to shoulder a leadership role at Los Blancos.

Quoting a source close to the club, AS further wrote: "There are many footballers who are in that line. Mbappe has opened the door that many of his teammates were eager to enter through."

With a new leadership role in the team, the 25-year-old will now aim to regain his form and step up to the challenge. The reigning Spanish champions will be next seen in action against Girona in La Liga on Saturday.
