VIDEO: USWNT'S Kristie Mewis shares incredibly wholesome pregnancy reveal to overjoyed parents after homophobic backlash to baby announcement with Chelsea star Sam Kerr

Last week, the USWNT star announced her pregnancy with partner and Chelsea star Sam Kerr on social media. The couple have been together since 2021. After several weeks of speculation, as images of a diamond ring being sported dropped on social media, news of their engagement was confirmed in November 2023. A year on and the duo are now expecting their first child. In another set of Instagram posts, Mewis shared a video of her informing her overjoyed parents about her news.

While their family and colleagues showed their support and excitement about the pregnancy, both Kerr and Mewis received a lot of abuse and homophobic slurs on social media. Blues captain Millie Bright and manager Sonia Bompastor showed their solidarity with the couple while condemning the rude behaviour of the fans.

News of the “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!” has given Australian superstar Kerr something to smile about, as she has been stuck on the sidelines since suffering knee ligament damage in January 2024.
