Injury blow for Barcelona! Joao Cancelo hobbles out of La Liga clash with Las Palmas after just 10 minutes

Cancelo was named in the starting XI for Barcelona's first game of 2024 against Las Palmas in La Liga. However, the on loan Manchester City defender only lasted 10 minutes as he had to be replaced by Andreas Christensen after sustaining an injury to his leg.

Xavi will be hoping that Cancelo's injury is not serious as the Portugal international has been a key player for his team since moving from City in the summer. The versatile defender has become a regular in the team, playing at both right-back and left-back. Barcelona are thought to be keen to keep hold of Cancelo past the end of the season when his current loan deal expires.

Barcelona have not won any of their last sevenaway games in La Liga which they started losing (D3 L4) after winning seven of previous 13 in the competition (D2 L4).

Barcelona will be expected to offer an update on Cancelo's injury after the match. The Catalans are back in action on Sunday in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro.
