    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 54-year-old's next career move has been a subject of speculation ever since he left the England job. From taking up punditry to being linked with a move to Manchester United as Erik ten Hag's replacement, there have been multiple rumours regarding Southgate's next job. However, putting an end to all speculations, the manager himself has now opened up on his immediate future.

  • WHAT GARETH SOUTHGATE SAID

Speaking to Sky News, Southgate said, "I’m not going to rush into anything. I’ve got lots of opportunities, I'm very open-minded to what's next. That might be in football, that might be outside of football. I'm just going to take some time, refresh, recharge and go from there.

"I think at the moment people know that I need to get my energy back. I had an incredible eight-year journey with the team, it was an absolute privilege to be manager of my country. I worked with brilliant players, and a fantastic staff."
