WHAT HAPPENED?
During the Premier League encounter at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon, striker Haaland was in the wars after a clash with Newcastle defender Dan Burn. During the first half, the Norway international's Achilles was left battered and bruised in a physical contest on Tyneside.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite being on the receiving end of some hefty challenges, Haaland arguably got the upper hand on Newcastle's defence and, ultimately, City went into the break 1-0 up thanks to Josko Gvardiol's 35th-minute opener. Anthony Gordon later equalised from the spot in a 1-1 draw.
After this match, Haaland's City return to Champions League action on Tuesday night away to Slovan Bratislava in in their second game of the competition. Newcastle, on the other hand, host AFC Wimbledon on the same date in the Carabao Cup third round.
