From EFL to NFL? Rob McElhenney in ‘love to’ ownership admission as Wrexham co-chairman prepares to watch beloved Philadelphia Eagles face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

Alongside fellow Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds, McElhenney is approaching four years of loyal service at SToK Racecourse. Quite the journey has been enjoyed there, with back-to-back promotions allowing the Red Dragons to start forming dreams of one day reaching the Premier League.

McElhenney is also part of the Tyler-Portis group – alongside fellow household names such as Eva Longoria, Kate Upton and Mesut Ozil – that has acquired stakes in Mexican side Necaxa and Colombian outfit La Equidad.

McElhenney is a passionate sports fan and is preparing to watch his beloved Philadelphia Eagles take on Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. He has admitted in the past that investing in the ‘Birds’ would be a dream.

He has, however, told Jimmy Kimmel Live when asked if he could look at acquiring an American football team at some stage in the future: “I would love to be able to afford a team in the National Football League, but I don’t think that is going to be possible any time soon.”

For now, McElhenney can focus much of his attention on events in North Wales. His family, including wife Kaitlin Olson, have also bought into that project – which is being documented by the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ series – and there is the promise of more celebrations to be taken in outside of the United States.
