'Stupid behaviour!' - 'Clown' Darwin Nunez destroyed by Liverpool fans over alleged deleted tweet hitting out at lack of game time

The 24-year-old Uruguayan striker has struggled to make a consistent impact at Anfield and is now heavily tipped to move away from Merseyside during the summer transfer window. Despite featuring in 42 matches across all competitions this season, Nunez has been named in the starting eleven just 17 times. His struggles in front of goal have not gone unnoticed either — the forward has managed to score only seven goals in total, with a mere five coming in Premier League fixtures.

Nunez found himself in hot water with Liverpool supporters after a questionable post on social media appeared to criticise his limited playing time. He wrote: “No wonder I didn’t play more, because the last game I started in the Premier League went well and suddenly…”

Liverpool fans wasted little time in voicing their displeasure over Nunez’s deleted post.

Realising the backlash his post had created, Nunez attempted to ease tensions with a more light-hearted post later on. He shared a new tweet featuring a photo alongside fellow Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, enjoying a morning coffee.

Away from the Nunez drama, Liverpool have set their sights on a crucial victory against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday, a result that would help heal some wounds after missing out on celebrating their 2019-20 title win with fans due to COVID-19 restrictions. Whether Nunez plays a part in that story remains to be seen, but his standing with supporters has undoubtedly taken a significant hit.
