Although the Portuguese has failed to inspire Al-Nassr to a league championship in two attempts, his 50-goal return in the 2023-24 campaign shows that every buck spent on him is worth the money - without even factoring in the magnetic commercial pull of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

According to Capology, Ronaldo is the highest-paid player in the Saudi Pro League, earning a staggering €200 million annually. This is double that of the league's next highest earners, Neymar and Karim Benzema who earn €100 million each. The star triumvirate is followed by former Manchester City player Riyad Mahrez at €52.5 million.

The significant salaries of these players illustrate the Saudi Pro League's commitment to becoming a premier destination for top football talent. As the 2024-25 season kick-off approaches, a host of other stars are being linked to Saudi Arabia, including Casemiro, Ederson, Alisson Becker and Kevin De Bruyne.

Neymar was able to make just five appearances for Al-Hilal in the 2023-24 campaign after his season was curtailed by a horrific ACL injury. This means that the Brazilian has pocketed a whopping €20m for each appearance! However, he is getting closer to making a return and will be eager to live up to expectations by helping his side defend the league title.
