Chelsea defeat is 'good' for PSG as Nasser Al-Khelaifi says European champions were 'humbled' in Club World Cup final loss

The London club humbled the Champions League winners in a 3-0 victory at MetLife Stadium in the United States. The PSG president expressed that this defeat doesn't overshadow the wonderful season they've had, in turn, makes them more determined and motivated for their upcoming campaign.

The French club president steered away from the post-match brawl and instead focused on the team's successful campaign this season. The Parisians were finally able to clinch the Champions League - a dream for the club since the Qatari takeover in 2011. The PSG owner reflected on their journey and believes the defeat will only lead the club to win more trophies next season.

In the post-match press conference, Al-Khelaifi said: "We can be very proud of what we've achieved this season. We wanted to win this Club World Cup, but it's difficult. The players gave their all. They were tired. We had a great season, the best in the club's history. We're proud of the players and the staff."

Expressing his views on PSG's loss in the finals, the PSG owner said: "This defeat is good for us, for next season. We have to be humble. We are the youngest team in the competition. It's true that we lost a final, but I'm proud of the team. And congratulations to Chelsea, they deserved their victory."

The Parisians have yet another chance of winning a trophy this season. The French club will play Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur in the Super Cup on August 14. However, PSG head coach Luis Enrique can potentially face a ban after shoving Joao Pedro in the face in a post-match brawl.
