Antony's nightmare is finally over! Man Utd agree to sell Brazilian winger to Real Betis permanently in €25m transfer

Brazil international Antony spent the second half of last season in Andalusia, registering nine goals and five assists through 26 appearances. He only found the target on 12 occasions in 96 outings for the Red Devils.

Antony moved to Old Trafford for £85m ($115m) from Ajax in the summer of 2022. He struggled to make an impact with the Premier League giants, leading to the South American falling out of love with football. A lost spark was rekindled in Spain.

According to The Athletic, a deal has finally been agreed that will see the 25-year-old forward link up with Betis once more. United are taking a huge loss on Antony, with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) needing to be factored into the equation.

The Red Devils have, however, made a point of including a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that is returning Antony to Estadio Olimpico de la Cartuja, meaning that they stand to benefit from any future sale.

Betis’ agreement is said to include a further €3m in potential bonuses, with a player that still had two years left to run on a lucrative contract in Manchester taking a sizeable pay cut in order to end up in surroundings where he feels comfortable and confident.
