How to watch today's Lanus vs Fluminense Copa Sudamericana game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

For the first time in club history, Fluminense will square off against Argentina's Lanus in the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana. The clash at La Fortaleza in Buenos Aires sets the stage for a brand-new continental rivalry, as two storied sides now chase the same dream, lifting international silverware.

The freshness of the matchup only adds intrigue. Recent stats highlight Lanus' strong home record, while Flu have struggled to find consistency away from Rio. For the Tricolor, it's a complete debut, but for head coach Renato Gaúcho, the stadium stirs old memories — it was at La Fortaleza in 2017 where he guided Grêmio to Copa Libertadores glory, a moment that cemented him as a figure the Granates faithful would rather forget.

Beyond the tactics and form books, Tuesday's meeting carries the weight of history. Though Brazil vs. Argentina is a rivalry written into South American football’s DNA, these two clubs had never crossed paths until now. This first encounter will forever be etched into Fluminense’s story — and they’ll be desperate to turn this historic occasion into a stepping stone toward continental glory.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.

Lanus team news

The Granates head into their Sudamericana quarter-final clash with a lengthy injury list that could test their depth. Goalkeeper Lautaro Morales remains sidelined with a groin issue and isn't expected back until early October, while Luciano Romero and Franco Watson are both nursing muscle problems, with Romero also eyeing an October return. Midfielders Juan Ramirez and Ramiro Carrera are also dealing with muscle concerns, leaving their availability in serious doubt.

In defense, Ronaldo De Jesus is working his way back from a head injury and might return toward the end of September, while Peña is recovering from a shoulder setback in a similar timeframe. The toughest blow, however, is Raul Loaiza, who has been ruled out long-term after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, robbing Lanús of a key figure in their midfield engine room.

Fluminense team news

On the other side, Fluminense's concerns are far less severe. Veteran full-back Samuel Xavier is nursing a thigh injury and is expected to remain out until late September. While his absence takes away some experience and balance on the right flank, the Tricolor otherwise arrive in Buenos Aires close to full strength. Renato Gaucho's squad will be eager to capitalize on their opponent’s injury troubles and make a statement in their first-ever meeting with Lanus.
