  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kansas City wideout Rashee Rice is set to meet with the NFL for his disciplinary hearing on Tuesday, September 30, in New York City.

The timing means he’s now on course to suit up for the Chiefs’ opening four games before the league hands down any potential punishment stemming from his involvement in a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas earlier this offseason.

With that hearing date locked in, Rice should be cleared to hit the field against the Chargers in Brazil, followed by showdowns with the Eagles, a road trip to face the Giants, and a home clash with the Ravens.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Just a few weeks ago, Rashee Rice was handed a 30-day jail sentence and five years of probation for his role in a multi-car crash earlier this year. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty in district court to two third-degree felony charges, collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury, but received deferred adjudication, meaning the case will be wiped from his record if he successfully completes probation.

Rice burst onto the scene in his 2023 rookie year, hauling in 79 passes for 938 yards and seven scores. His 2024 follow-up was cut short after just four games due to a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, though he still managed 24 receptions for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns before going down.
