Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees will look to make some noise against veteran right-hander Sonny Gray when the St. Louis Cardinals send him to the hill Saturday night at Busch Stadium.

It’s been a rocky stretch for the Yankees, who have taken just three of their last eight series. Last week was particularly bumpy, as they dropped back-to-back three-game sets to the Rangers and Astros before salvaging some momentum with a series win over the Twins earlier this week.

St. Louis, on the other hand, has shown flashes of consistency, winning two of its last three series. The Cards impressed by grabbing sets from both the Dodgers and Cubs, but the energy fizzled out at home against Colorado, where they stumbled against a struggling Rockies squad.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Yankees MLB game, plus plenty more.

St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Yankees team news

St. Louis Cardinals team news

The Cardinals, meanwhile, lean on contact hitters to set the tone. Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson are both hitting .279, while Willson Contreras (16 homers, 65 RBI) has been the lineup’s most reliable run producer. Rookie Masyn Winn has also brought balance, hitting .265 with 26 doubles.

Sonny Gray, for his part, has ridden a bit of a rollercoaster this summer. The 35-year-old owns an 11-5 record with a 4.06 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 24 starts. July was a nightmare (7.81 ERA in six starts), but he’s shown signs of a rebound in August, giving up just three runs across 14 strong innings in his last two appearances.

New York Yankees team news

Aaron Judge continues to carry the pinstripes’ offense, leading the team with a blistering .330 average, 38 homers, and 89 RBI, numbers that also rank him among the league’s elite (fourth in homers, sixth in RBI). Around him, Cody Bellinger (.267, 22 homers, 20 doubles) and Anthony Volpe (18 long balls, 25 doubles) have chipped in, while Trent Grisham’s power stroke (21 homers, 55 walks) has added a spark.

On the mound, New York hands the ball to Max Fried. The 31-year-old southpaw has been sharp overall, posting a 12-5 record with a 2.94 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 24 starts. That said, he’s been searching for answers lately, with a 6.00 ERA over his last seven outings.
