Alec Burleson and the St. Louis Cardinals roll into Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night, set to square off against Emmet Sheehan and the Los Angeles Dodgers in what promises to be an intriguing showdown under the lights.

St. Louis is in the middle of a six-game West Coast swing, which began with a frustrating series in San Diego, where they dropped two of three. Since the All-Star break, things haven’t quite clicked for the Cardinals, who’ve gone just 5-11 during that stretch and are still searching for consistency on both sides of the ball.

On the other side, the Dodgers are fresh off a bizarre weekend; they went 18 consecutive innings without plating a run, yet still managed to blank the Rays twice in a three-game sweep. They enter this series holding a three-game cushion over the Padres in the NL West and continue to lean on the star power throughout their stacked lineup.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch Los Angeles Dodgers vs St. Louis Cardinals MLB game, plus plenty more.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs St. Louis Cardinals team news

Los Angeles Dodgers team news

At the heart of it all is Shohei Ohtani, who’s once again putting together a monster campaign. The two-way sensation leads L.A. with 38 home runs and 73 RBIs, ranking second in all of MLB in slugging. He’s hit safely in three straight games and is batting .238 with a double and three walks in his last five.

Mookie Betts is contributing with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, and 42 free passes, though he’s still looking to get his average (.233) trending back in the right direction. Meanwhile, Will Smith has been the most reliable bat in the lineup, slashing a sizzling .324 and extending his hit streak to four games. Freddie Freeman continues to do Freddie Freeman things, hitting .308 with 29 doubles and recording knocks in six straight. He’s been red-hot lately, batting .405 with 11 RBIs over his last 10 games.

On the mound, Emmet Sheehan gets the call for L.A., aiming to keep his strong run going. The right-hander has given up just 13 earned runs through 25 innings and fanned 26 batters in the process, a promising sign as the Dodgers look to tighten their grip atop the division.

St. Louis Cardinals team news

As for the Cardinals, Brendan Donovan continues to be a steady contributor, hitting .281 with 24 doubles and a .353 on-base percentage. Alec Burleson paces the club with a .284 average, while Willson Contreras has provided the pop, launching 15 homers and driving in 63 runs. Rookie Masyn Winn is also making his presence felt, batting .270 with seven long balls and 24 doubles.

Veteran righty Miles Mikolas will take the ball for St. Louis, hoping to turn the corner in what’s been a bumpy season. He’s surrendered 60 runs across 108 innings and will need to keep the Dodgers’ big bats quiet if the Cardinals hope to steal one on the road.
