Cincinnati Bengals vs Chicago Bears Team News
The biggest takeaway from Thursday's joint practice between the two teams was the sheer dominance of the Bengals' defensive front. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II was a constant disruptive force against the Bears' interior line, capping off the session by batting a Caleb Williams pass into the air and intercepting it himself to end a two-minute drill. Additionally, edge rushers Myles Murphy and Cashius Howell consistently generated pressure and would-be sacks in the backfield, showcasing the Bengals' deep defensive rotation.
Getty ImagesBears starting quarterback Caleb Williams flashed his elite potential during red-zone drills, throwing three touchdown passes - including an impressive high-point catch by tight end Colston Loveland and a diving grab by Kaden Davis. However, Williams and the offense sputtered late during situational move-the-ball periods.
Behind Williams, veteran quarterback Case Keenum is getting an extended look with the second-team offense. The Bears' primary backup, Tyson Bagent, is currently sidelined with a groin/hamstring injury, leaving Keenum to handle the bulk of the backup reps heading into Saturday's game. Keenum looked sharp in practice, connecting on precise throws to rookie Zavion Thomas and Ray-Ray McCloud III.
