Real Betis play host to Deportivo Alavés at the Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja on Friday night, marking their first home fixture of the new campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini's men are coming off a strong 2023-24 season, one that saw them secure a top-six finish and direct passage into the Europa League.
They opened the new La Liga term with a 1-1 draw away at Elche, but will now be desperate to claim their first three points. That won't come easy, though, as Alavés have proven something of a thorn in Betis' side, going five games unbeaten against Los Verdiblancos.

Team news & squads
Real Betis team news
Off the pitch, financial constraints have forced Betis into a summer of upheaval. The likes of Jesus Rodriguez and Johnny Cardoso were sold, while Antony returned to Manchester United after his loan spell, leaving Pellegrini with plenty of gaps to plug.
To make matters worse, injuries are piling up: Isco is ruled out for the next few months, Nelson Deossa remains unavailable, and there are lingering doubts over Abde Ezzalzouli, Diego Llorente, and Marc Roca.
Deportivo Alaves team news
Alavés, meanwhile, also endured departures, losing Santiago Mourino and Kike García during the off-season. Even so, Luis García Plaza's side arrive in Seville with a clean bill of health across most of the squad. The only concern is Hugo Novoa, who faces a late fitness test but could still be passed fit in time for the clash.
