How to watch today's Norway U20 vs France U20 World Cup game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

A tense, tactical chess match could be brewing in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup quarterfinals on Sunday, as Norway and France square off in what promises to be a gripping defensive showdown, with a coveted semifinal berth hanging in the balance.

For Norway, this is uncharted territory. The young Norwegians have never advanced beyond the group stage in any of their three previous U-20 World Cup appearances, but this crop has rewritten history through grit and discipline. They finished second in Group F with five points (W1, D2), narrowly missing out on the top spot on fair play points alone, a testament to just how fine the margins have been.

Their formula has been simple but effective: watertight defense, measured buildup, and opportunistic finishing. They've conceded just one goal in four matches so far, including a tense 1-0 extra-time victory over Paraguay in the Round of 16, where their defensive wall held firm for 90 minutes before snatching the winner in overtime.

The French, meanwhile, have rediscovered a bit of their old U-20 swagger. Back in the quarterfinals for the first time since their 2013 title-winning run, France look intent on reliving that golden campaign. Their journey so far hasn't been flawless, but it's been efficient. After finishing third in Group E with six points (W2, L1), edged out on head-to-head goal difference, Les Bleuets showed their resilience in a nervy 1-0 extra-time win over Japan in the previous round.

Head coach Bernard Diomede's side may not have been free-flowing, but they've shown the hallmark of champions: the ability to grind out results when the stakes rise. Expect them to control possession and probe Norway’s backline, but they'll know better than to underestimate the Scandinavian side’s composure and organization.

Norway U20 team news

Chasing his fourth shutout of the tournament, Einar Fauskanger is expected to reclaim his spot between the posts, with Sander Ostraat waiting in the wings as his backup.

Up front, Niklas Fuglestad has all but cemented his place in the lineup after his heroics, first finding the net against Saudi Arabia and then delivering that dramatic 116th-minute winner versus Paraguay.

Meanwhile, the lively duo of Markus Haaland and Bork Bang-Kittilsen are poised to provide the width and attacking spark from the flanks, giving Norway plenty of bite going forward.

France U20 team news

Former AS Monaco prodigy Saimon Bouabre, now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Neom SC, has made the long trip to Chile to link up with Les Bleuets for the U20 World Cup.

Head coach Bernard Diomede has had his hands tied during preparations, as several clubs, most notably Paris Saint-Germain, recalled players due to injury crises, leaving France short-handed. Unable to immediately fill those gaps, Diomede had to bide his time until the FIFA international window to call in reinforcements.

Now, as France gear up for their Round of 16 clash with Japan on Wednesday night, help has arrived. Bouabre is expected to bolster the attack, and there’s growing optimism that he could feature in the crucial knockout tie.

Defensive frailties have plagued France throughout the campaign, but their individual brilliance keeps them dangerous. Rising star Michel and midfield orchestrator Bermont are tipped to lead the charge as the French look to rediscover their attacking rhythm.
