The Argentine star ripped a low blast from distance to open the scoring against Real Sociedad

Barcelona has had a rough week, but Lionel Messi is working to make sure it finishes on a high note.

After dropping the first leg of its UEFA Champions League quarterfinal with Juventus 3-0, Barcelona looked to rebound against Real Sociedad in La Liga, and keep pace with leader Real Madrid in the process.

And the superstar helped the club off to a good start Saturday as Messi ripped a low screamer from outside the area 17 minutes into the contest to give Barcelona the 1-0 advantage.

Messi wasn’t done, as he would double Barcelona’s lead 20 minutes later, though this one was of the less spectacular variety.

While Messi gave his side dream start to the match, Sociedad is not going down easily, scoring on both sides of a Paco Alcacer goal to leave the game 3-2 Barca at the half.
