Manager Erik ten Hag is still acclimatizing following Xabi Alonso’s move to Real Madrid, and the club has seen the high-profile departures of star playmaker Florian Wirtz and right-back Jeremie Frimpong, both joining Liverpool. These exits demand fresh solutions and tactical adjustments as Leverkusen reshape their approach.

On the injury front, the most notable absentee is defender Jeanuël Belocian, sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury and not expected to return until mid-September 2025. The rest of the squad appears available, providing Ten Hag some flexibility as he tests both established faces and summer arrivals for chemistry and sharpness.
