Uruguay v Portugal Betting Tips: Will Ronaldo or Suarez shine in the last 16?

Two of the biggest names at the World Cup face each other in the last 16 with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal facing Luis Suarez's Uruguay.

The two players know each other well from their El Clasico clashes in Spain for Real Madrid and Barcelona, yet this will be the first time they face one another on the international stage.

Latest odds

Cristiano Ronaldo's four goals at the tournament so far have put him in the running for the Golden Boot, although the 33-year-old will need to add to his tally if he is to have any hope of winning the individual award.

He is the shortest priced player to score at anytime with dabblebet offering him at 23/20 (2.15) and at 16/5 (4.20) to break the deadlock, which would make him the first player to score a goal against Uruguay in this World Cup.

For La Celeste, Suarez can be backed at 13/8 (2.38) to net or at 15/4 (4.75) to open the scoring and add make it three games in a row in which he has scored the opening goal.

Suarez has not looked in the best form, yet often he finds a way of scoring even when not playing at his highest level.

There will of course be other excellent forward players on display in Sochi, not least Edinson Cavani who scored the final goal in the 3-0 victory over Russia.

He is offered at 6/4 (2.50) to score his second goal in Russia and at 4/1 (5.00) in the first goalscorer market.

The only player other than Ronaldo to have scored for Portugal at the World Cup is Ricardo Quaresma, who netted a stunning strike against Iran with the outside of his foot.

He is priced at 16/5 (4.20) to score again, while Andre Silva who likely to start up front is available at 12/5 (3.40).

Tips and predictions

This game however could end up being extremely tight and it is highly feasible that the winner comes from a set piece.

Jose Maria Gimenez has already proved a match-winner for Uruguay in Russia and the Atletico Madrid defender is priced at 10/1 (11.00) to score.

His Atletico team-mate Diego Godin is also available at the same price and the 32-year-old has scored some important goals in his career, including the winner against Italy in 2014 to send his side into the knockouts.
