Tottenham team news: Sissoko & Walker-Peters start for Spurs vs Newcastle

Spurs kick off their season against the Magpies at St James' Park, hoping to avenge the 5-1 defeat inflicted upon them on their last visit

Moussa Sissoko has been named in the starting line-up for Tottenham against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

The club's £30 million record signing often flattered to deceive last season, leading to reports that he could leave the club this summer amid interest from Trabzonspor.

However, he has been given the nod to start against his former club, on the right-hand side of a midfield triumvirate alongside Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.

Elsewhere, Kyle Walker-Peters comes into the team at right-back, following his namesake Kyle Walker's transfer to Manchester City and an injury suffered by Kieran Trippier.

Harry Kane leads the line, while Eric Dier — who has previously played at full-back — and Mousa Dembele play in central midfield.

Newcastle, meanwhile, start with new signings Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo.

The club's last Premier League game came against Spurs, with the Magpies already relegated and the north Londoners aware that a victory would see them finish above Arsenal.
