Salah agent denies offering Liverpool star to Barcelona

Mohamed Salah’s agent has denied a report saying the Egypt star’s representatives had offered him to Barcelona.

Reports of a potential exit to La Liga rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid by Salah from Liverpool have become frequent after his record-breaking debut season at Anfield.

The attacker broke a Premier League record in for goals in a 38-game season with 32, and finished the year with 44 goals as he helped the Reds make the Champions League final.

This particular story surfaced on Wednesday with AS claiming sources indicated to the publication that representatives for the Liverpool attacker had offered him to the La Liga champions.

The story also detailed Barcelona's view that Salah was a fallback option if Antoine Griezmann’s rumoured move to the club did not work out, and that the representatives and the club were working together to find an agreeable number to entice Liverpool to sell.

However, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas has directly responded to AS’ twitter account denying that any such offer had occurred.

“This never happened,” Abbas said from his Twitter account, quoting the AS story in his tweet. “AS, you need better sources.”

Salah continues to recover from a shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League final during a collision with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

He hopes to be ready in time to play some part in the World Cup however, and was named to Egypt’s roster.

Egypt will open play in Group A on June 15 against Uruguay. They face off against hosts Russia on June 19 and then close out the group stage against Saudi Arabia on June 25.
