Benzema return sees Madrid's BBC reunited for first time in 273 days

Karim Benzema returned from a thigh injury in Real Madrid's 7-1 win against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, reuniting on the field with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time in 273 days.

The French striker replaced Borja Mayoral in the 64th minute of the La Liga contest at the Santiago Bernabeu, allowing Zinedine Zidane to deploy the famous 'BBC' trio up front.

Los Blancos hadn't used the star trio since April 23, when they started together in a 3-2 loss to rival Barcelona. Bale gave way to Marco Asensio in the first half of that match after suffering a calf injury.

While Bale has rounded into form in recent weeks, scoring five goals in all competitions in the new year, Benzema had been sidelined since a 3-0 defeat to Barca on December 23.

Bale was responsible for two goals in the first half on Sunday as Madrid thrashed Deportivo, while Ronaldo added a late brace of his own.

Central defender Nacho also scored twice for Los Blancos, with Luka Modric getting on the scoresheet as well.

Madrid sit fifth in La Liga after 19 matches, 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
