Having appeared at 15 of the 20 World Cups played to date, Mexico are a regular fixture at major tournaments.
It's likely they'll be playing for second place in Group F this time around though, having been drawn alongside reigning champions Germany, Sweden and South Korea.
2018 World Cup Qualification
El Tri won the CONCACAF group, finishing well clear of Costa Rica and Panama who secured the other automatic spots for Russia.
A resolute defence conceded just seven times in 10 games albeit they'll face much tougher tests this summer. Interestingly, while Mexico scored a total of 17 times in the final round of qualification, no player managed more than three goals with PSV striker Hirving Lozano topping the scoring charts.
Javier Hernandez is the country's all-time leading scorer with 49 goals.

Mexico are usually good value to make it through their group, but that's often where they come unstuck. A last-gasp Klaas-Jan Huntelaar goal knocked the Central Americans out of the 2014 World Cup and that was the sixth consecutive tournament where El Tri were eliminated at the round of 16 stage.
Their best performances have both come on home soil, achieving a spot in the quarter finals in both 1970 and 1986.
