Manchester City vs Manchester United: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview

The Manchester derby will come to a boiling head on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium when Premier League leaders Manchester City host crosstown rivals Manchester United.

Nine points separate the two sides going into the fixture, and Pep Guardiola's side could make massive strides in their hopes of winning a second successive league title should they wreak havoc on Jose Mourinho's team.

The last time these two sides met, however, United managed to stage a 3-2 comeback to delay the Sky Blues' Premier League celebrations for a whole week – and the Red Devils will be keen to deny their rivals any sort of party .

It hasn't been quite the dream start to a season for Mourinho as his side languish in seventh place going into the derby, having already lost three games and sitting four points off a Champions League spot.

United have managed three wins in their last five games, however, and will arrive at the Etihad Stadium full of confidence following a 2-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League.

Manchester City, however, have been riding on a high since the start of the season , sitting firmly at the top of the league and two points clear above title challengers Chelsea and Liverpool.

Guardiola's side have scored 18 goals in their last three fixtures in all competitions – and will also be motivated by their Champions League win in midweek, where they completed a 6-0 thumping of Shakhtar Donetsk on home turf.

The Sky Blues are in contention to run away with the league title again this season but United could put an end to their astonishing form should they register yet another victory at the Etihad following the 3-2 thriller in April .

Guardiola has dismissed claims that the Manchester derby is the biggest fixture of the season for either side, with the Catalan keen to not put too much emphasis on Sunday's clash.

"No, no, no," he told reporters. "Of course games against contenders are special because if you win, they don't win, but it's November so maybe the game at Old Trafford [in March] will be more important.

"Of course we are on a good run, United as well, it will be like all the games so tight, no team controls the game for 90 minutes and we have to defend well and attack like we have in the last games."
