Liverpool Team News: Injuries, suspensions and line-up vs Everton

The Reds return to Premier League action at Anfield this weekend as they welcome Marco Silva's resurgent Blues

There is no time for Liverpool to lick their Champions League wounds, with the 232nd Merseyside derby to come this weekend.

Beaten in Paris in midweek, the Reds will look to bounce back at Anfield on Sunday when they welcome their oldest rivals.

Everton have not won a derby since 2010, and have not tasted victory on enemy soil since 1999, but Marco Silva's side will arrive into this meeting buoyed by recent results. The Blues sit sixth in the Premier League table, and will be seeking to inflict a first league defeat of the season on their neighbours.

Liverpool Injuries

Jurgen Klopp will assess his troops after the midweek loss to PSG, a disappointing night for his side which leaves their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Next matches

A number of players missed that game due to injury and illness. Adam Lallana was due back in training on Thursday and could be in contention for a place on the bench, while Divock Origi, Dominic Solanke and Nathaniel Clyne will all be monitored.

Liverpool will be without captain Jordan Henderson, who will serve a one-match ban having been sent off at Watford last weekend.

Likely Liverpool Starting Line-Up

Decisions, decisions, decisions, for Klopp.

The expectation will be that Liverpool will return to their 4-2-3-1 system for this game, with Xherdan Shaqiri likely to earn a recall, either as a No.10 or on the right of the attack. If it is the latter, then Mohamed Salah will start as the No.9 with Roberto Firmino behind.

Trent Alexander-Arnold should earn a recall at right-back, with Joe Gomez taking Dejan Lovren's place at centre-back. Then the big question is the midfield, which looked so powderpuff in Paris. Henderson's absence means Gini Wijnaldum is a certainty to start, but will it be James Milner, Fabinho or Naby Keita alongside him. The smart money is on Milner, the vice-captain, though many would rather see a change of approach from Klopp with one or both of his new-boys starting.

The Blues have no major doubts, with Silva boasting a virtually fully-fit squad.

He chould choose up to six derby debutants, with Yerry Mina, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne, Bernard, Andre Gomes and Richarlison all hoping to feature.
