Las Palmas v Barcelona Betting: Catalans to sink islanders as title chase hots up

A few weeks ago, a trip to the Estadio Gran Canaria might have seemed a daunting task for Barcelona in their penultimate league game of the season. Las Palmas had been abysmal on the road this term, yet at home they have proved extremely tough opposition, with Real Madrid only managing a 2-2 on their visit to the island earlier on in the campaign.

Yet, with safety confirmed, the manager announcing his departure at the end of the season and precious little to play for, Las Palmas have gone into freefall. Six defeats in their last eight matches have shown a team lacking in committment and motivation and in the last home game the fans witnessed a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona, of course, will be hoping for a similar result on Sunday evening to ensure that the title battle goes down to the final weekend of the season. Paddy Power offer a win for the visitors at just 1/12 (1.08)while Las Palmas are priced at 20/1 (21.00)and the draw can be backed at 11/1 (12.00).

Games involving Las Palmas have been some of the highest scoring in the Spanish top-flight this season, with their matches averaging 3.31 goals.

In recent weeks, the goals have been coming at Las Palmas's end of the pitch rather than anywhere else, with Quique Setien's men conceding in each of their last eight fixtures - a total of 22 goals.

Barca can readily expect therefore to cause the Canarians plenty of problems and earlier this season they beat them 5-0 at the Camp Nou. The visitors are offered at 8/11 (1.73)to score over 3.5 goals which looks highly likely, while the price of 10/11 (1.91)for Barca to win and over 4.5 goals in the game also looks tempting.
