The second edition of this local rivalry in the space of a couple of weeks sees an in-form San Jose Earthquakes side travel to Los Angeles to face the Galaxy.
The team from northern California recorded a 3-0 win over Guillermo Barros' side at the end of June and the Galaxy will be looking to avenge that defeat in front of their own fans at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Latest odds
LA Galaxy have lost three of their last four home games in MLS yet SportPesa still make them 20/21 (1.98) favourites to pick up three points. The side from San Jose for their part have won three of their last four matches and are available at 51/20 (3.55) with the draw at 27/10 (3.70).
Team news
Lyndsay RadnedgeWinger Romain Alessandrini remains sidelined for the Galaxy with a knee injury, while midfielders Chris Pontius and Sebastian Lletget are doubts. The Earthquakes are without midfielder Anibal Godoy.
Preview
While they are less high-profile than their southern neighbours, the Earthquakes have enjoyed an excellent recent record against the Galaxy.
Certainly scoring in the Cali Clasico has been no problem for the San Jose outfit, who have netted 12 times in their last five competitive meetings against the Galaxy.
In four of those five matches they have scored over 2.5 goals, and a repeat is offered at a healthy looking 17/4 (5.25).
At home this season Barros' men have kept just two clean sheets in 10 matches, and with the Earthquakes boasting the third-most prolific attack in the division, backing the visitors to get among the goals could be a shrewd investment.
Tips and predictions
The Earthquakes can be backed at 13/10 (2.30) to score over 1.5 goals and this looks like a strong selection. Matias Almeyda's side have netted in 11 of their last 13 road games in MLS and backing them to score at least twice appeals.
