'Ill' Rojo joins Manchester United fans in away end at Stoke

Marcos Rojo may not have been well enough to take to the field during Manchester United’s visit to Stoke City, but he was happy to spend the afternoon among the travelling supporters.

Jose Mourinho revealed in the build-up to the Premier League fixture that the Argentine would play no part as he was feeling under the weather.

His absence allowed Chris Smalling and Phil Jones to be paired together once more at the heart of United’s defence.

Mou: Fellaini has won fans over

Rojo was, however, able to stick around the bet365 Stadium and take in the contest from the stands.

He was not to head for the pleasant surrounds of an executive box, though, with the 26-year-old instead opting to join the hoards of United fans in the away end.

Rojo will be disappointed to have missed out on the Red Devils’ latest fixture, having worked hard to nail down a regular spot this season.

Unfortunate injuries to others opened the door for him, and it could be that he now slips down the pecking order after sitting things out against Stoke.

He did, however, see Mourinho’s side concede early against the Potters, with Juan Marta turning an Erik Pieters cross past David de Gea inside 19 minutes.
