‘Grealish’s talent deserves Liverpool over Man Utd’ – Aston Villa star heading for the top, claims Collymore

Jack Grealish “deserves a better platform” than the one he has at Aston Villa or that Manchester United could offer, says Stan Collymore, with the England hopeful told he should be looking for a switch to Liverpool.

Speculation continues to rage around the 24-year-old playmaker when it comes to possible future moves.

The general consensus is that Villa, who have nurtured his undoubted ability to this point, will find it difficult to retain the services of their club captain and most prized asset.

Various landing spots have been mooted for Grealish, with United considered to be leading the way in an ongoing bid to bring added creativity into Old Trafford.

Collymore can understand why the Red Devils would be keen, but feels that Premier League title hopefuls at Anfield would be a better fit for a man capable of gracing the very top of the European game.

The former Reds and Villa striker told the Mirror: “I know I’m biased towards Jack Grealish but the stats don’t lie, and for him to become the first English midfielder to register 15 goals/assists since Frank Lampard in 2009/10, in an average to poor team, is a superb effort.

“His talent deserves a better platform, and if you were to stick him in that Liverpool midfield and let him service their magic front three, the kid could be one of Europe’s most effective midfielders and have an England team built around him.

“Forget Manchester United, he’ll be waiting five years to reach the level he could get to at Anfield.”

If Grealish were to link up with Liverpool, then he would be given the chance to work under enigmatic Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Collymore believes no player would pass up such an opportunity, with the German boss on Merseyside enjoying a remarkable run that appears destined to add a Premier League title to Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup crowns.

“You could count on one hand the number of players on the planet who wouldn’t want to play for him,” added Collymore.

“I know I’ve been insistent that I wouldn’t proclaim the title race over until Liverpool were 14 to 16 points ahead of Manchester City in March or April.

“But even though I can still see City winning every game between now and the end of the season, Liverpool aren’t going to drop 16 points, or 19 if they win their game in hand.”
