Mexico star Edson Alvarez reveals Bayern Munich interest and hints he could leave West Ham in summer transfer window

  • Alvarez not ruling out leaving West Ham
  • Midfielder confirms interest from Bayern
  • Still describes Hammers move as 'beautiful transfer'

WHAT HAPPENED? Alvarez raised the possibility that his time at West Ham following a £35m move from Ajax could only be brief after refusing to rule anything out with regard to his future.

WHAT THEY SAID: "It was a very busy summer. In the last weeks [of the transfer window], I knew about the interest from Bayern," Alvarez told Sky Sport Germany during international duty.

"Everything can happen. I'm always open, but at the moment, I'm really enjoying my time at West Ham. I want to play and show the people my best qualities. But in the summer, you never know what's going on."

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Alvarez also insisted he made a "beautiful transfer" to West Ham after being very close to joining Borussia Dortmund. The Mexican has already made a huge impact at the London Stadium in the wake of Declan Rice's departure to Arsenal.

WHAT NEXT FOR WEST HAM? The Hammers have their toughest test of the Europa League group stage on Thursday night when they travel to Greece to face Olympiacos. Alvarez wasn't involved as West Ham beat TSC Backa Topola on matchday one, but played the full 90 minutes last time out in the competition against Freiburg.
