Betting Tips for Today: Value with second-half action in this Football League treble

It only takes a few weeks for statistical trends to emerge in football and after around 16 games, these patterns can sometimes be convincingly used in betting.

Perhaps one of the most overlooked markets is Half With the Most Goals, and all three selections in this almost 15/2 (8.50) accumulator with bet365 pertain to the second half having the most strikes.

Reading v Bristol City – Second half to have the most goals at Evens (2.0)

Reading will be desperate to take the points in this one, having won just three times, but despite their worries, they have still hit 19 goals – the fifth-most in the Championship outside the top seven.

Concerningly, they have also shipped 25. Of the 44 goals their matches have seen, just 14 have come in the first half and just six of the 18 strikes at the Madejski Stadium have been before the break.

There is a similar story for Bristol City, too, whose games have produced just 13 first half goals compared to 20 after half-time. In fact, seven of the 18 goals they have scored have come in the 76th minute or later.

Rotherham v Swansea – Second half to have the most goals at 21/20 (2.05)

Rotherham have not won in eight games and may struggle to break that run against eighth-placed Swansea, but the one thing the Millers do have on their side is resilience.

They have conceded in the first half just four times during their current winless run, and, with this bet in mind, they have not scored a goal in the opening 45 minutes since August.

Swansea are not much different, with their away matches seeing just one first half goal this season. As well, all four goals Graham Potter’s men have scored outside of South Wales have been in the second-half - with three coming in the last 15 minutes.

Bradford v Portsmouth  – Second half to have the most goals at 21/20 (2.05)

Things could not be going much worse for Bradford this season, with the Bantams sitting bottom of League One. In contrast, Portsmouth are two points clear at the top and have lost just once.

Bradford’s awful defence has conceded a whopping 30 goals already, but just nine of those have come before the break and with Pompey netting 18 of their 27 in the second period, this price almost looks generous.
