Stoke City v Manchester United Betting: Confident visitors unlikely to be stopped

Manchester United will be determined to get back to winning ways when they travel to take on Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho’s men saw their nine-match winning run halted by Liverpool last weekend, with United forced to come from behind to claim a share of the spoils against Jurgen Klopp’s charges at Old Trafford. As a consequence, the men from Manchester now find themselves 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.

The 53-year-old Portuguese, therefore, will be acutely aware that his side cannot afford a slip when they line up against Mark Hughes’ men and Betway make the visitors their 4/7 (1.57) favourites to pick up all three points from their trip to the Potteries, while the odds compilers offer 3/1 (4.0) that the match ends in stalemate.

Stoke suffered a disappointing FA Cup defeat at the hands of Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month, but the Potters have enjoyed a positive start to 2017 in the Premier League, having secured back-to-back victories against Watford and Sunderland respectively. Betway go 5/1 (6.0) that Hughes’ side secure a third successive top-flight triumph for the first time since October.

There have been fewer than three goals scored in all but one of the last five fixtures that United have contested on their travels and Betway’s 17/20 (1.85) quote for that trend to continue may well prove popular here, for the selection would also have seen punters profit from seven of the last nine games that Hughes’ side have hosted.

United have conceded just one goal in their last four fixtures – from the penalty spot against Liverpool last weekend – and there is plenty of potential for another tight tussle here.

Mourinho’s side have been sharp in front of goal, though. Indeed, the visitors have notched in each of their 17 games in all competitions since drawing a blank against Burnley back in October while summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in sensational form this season, scoring 14 goals in his first 20 Premier League matches.

The former Sweden international can be backed at even money (2.0) to add to that impressive tally in Stoke, but better value lies in backing United to win by more than a single goal when they go head-to-head with Hughes’ side. This play would have landed in five of United’s last six wins in all competitions and, at 6/4 (2.50), the selection is worthy of support again.
