Deportivo Alaves v Celta Vigo Betting: Back a repeat low-scoring tie

Extreme weather in the north west region of Galicia saw Celta Vigo's league game against Real Madrid on Sunday cancelled amidst great controversy.

Among the clamour of voices struggling to be heard in the cacophony of indignation was that of Deportivo Alaves, who argued that their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg on Wednesday should be postponed given that Celta would have an unfair advantage having not played at the weekend.

Their official request was turned down and the game at Estadio Mendizorroza goes ahead as planned, with Alaves feeling they are at a disadvantage.

In practical terms, however, the Basque side rested most of their starting XI in the weekend win at Sporting Gijon, which turned out not to be particularly taxing, and the fact that Celta did not play on Sunday should not have too much influence on the outcome of the game.

Where Celta do have an advantage is in the scoreline, with the 0-0 result from the first leg meaning that the Eduardo Berizzo's side can progress to the final with a score draw.

Perhaps that is why we find the visitors as such overwhelming favorites with bet365 to qualify, with Celta offered at 4/7 (1.57) and Alaves priced at 11/8 (2.37) to make it through to the final. The teams are much tougher to split in the 90 minutes market, with the hosts priced at 9/5 (2.80) and Celta at a fractionally shorter 7/4 (2.75)

In the first leg we backed a low-scoring game opposing both sides to score with under 2.5 goals and were duly rewarded with a comfortable winner.

The second leg could well unfold in similar fashion and Alaves' scoring record at home is poor, with Mauricio Pellegrino's men finding the back of the net just nine times in 10 La Liga matches this term.

That is the third lowest total in La Liga, although they have also been defensively solid in their own stadium, conceding just 10 times. Only Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal have conceded fewer home goals than Alaves, and while Celta have a decent scoring record they might find the Basques tough to break down.

A repeat of our selection from the first leg could appeal at 5/6 (1.83) while the same price looks tempting for no goal to be scored before 36 minutes.

Under 2.5 goals and both teams to score 'no' at 5/6 (1.83) for a 2pt stake
