Atlanta United signs U.S. youth international Brandon Vazquez

The 18-year-old will join up with the MLS expansion team after a successful year with the U.S. U-19 side.

Atlanta United has announced it has acquired U.S. youth international Brandon Vazquez as a discovery signing from Club Tijuana.

The 18-year-old forward becomes the ninth player to join Atlanta, which begins play in MLS as an expansion team in 2017.

“Brandon has the natural goalscoring ability you look for in young forwards,” Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club release. “He’ll have every opportunity to contribute to our first team and to develop and progress with the national team.”

Vazquez is currently with the U.S. U-19 national team, with which he has scored four goals this year. He scored twice for the U.S. at the 2015 U-17 World Cup.
