Onyekuru confirmed there had been an offer from the Gunners and spoke of his desire to move to England, saying: "I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it's likely to come true and I'm looking towards it at the moment".

But the Nigeria international admitted he would be willing to reject big teams in favour of playing time and has chosen to take the next step in his career with Everton, confirming it by posting a picture of him at the club on Instagram.

Onyekuru had a medical at Everton on Monday, but he is expected to be sent back to Belgium on loan with Anderlecht.

The left-winger scored 24 goals in 41 games in all competitions for Eupen in his first season in the top-flight.

Onyekuru is the Toffees' third signing of the summer, having already brought in Jordan Pickford from Sunderland and Davy Klaassen from Ajax.
