Alaves vs Sevilla Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Sevilla's 1-0 win over Valladolid last weekend sent them top of the table and the Andalusians will look to consolidate first place with a win at the Estadio Mendizorroza on Sunday evening.

Hosts Alaves have also enjoyed a superb start to the season and with 13 matches played the Basques begin the weekend in a Champions League place when many had expected them to be battling relegation.

Latest odds

Alaves are unbeaten at home since April and their record this season is impressive with four wins and two draws from their six home games.

William Hill price them at 11/4 (3.75) to pick up another three points while Sevilla can be backed at evens (2.00) to pick up their fourth away win of the season. The draw is available at 13/5 (3.60).

Team news

Winger Jesus Navas and defensive midfielder Maxime Gonalons look set to miss out for Sevilla. Alaves will be without defender Rodrigo Ely and defensive midfielder Tomas Pina who are both long term absentees.

Preview

Sevilla are the top scoring side on the road in La Liga having netted 15 times away from the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan. Six of those strikes did come in one game at Levante, yet nevertheless they remain a side with firepower and overall their matches in the league this term have averaged excatly three goals.

Alaves for their part are more pragmatic than prolific, netting just eight goals in their six home matches although they have kept things sufficiently tight to record some important wins, not least a historic 1-0 success over Real Madrid in October. Alaves will be difficult to break down and there could be plenty of reasons to oppose an early goal.

Tips and predictions

The price of 23/20 (2.15) for the first goal to come after the 31st minute looks highly appealing and even more so when considering Alaves' home record.

Aberlardo Fernandez's team have scored just one goal in the first half at home this term, and even that strike in their last game against Huesca came just before half time. Meanwhile 11 of Sevilla's 15 away goals this term have come after the 31st minute, which further reinforces this selection.
