Birmingham City, who have already won the League One title and have confirmed promotion to the Championship, had seen a minority takeover by NFL legend Tom Brady in the summer of 2023. Former Southampton striker Long has now claimed that Wrexham and Birmingham City could make their way to the Premier League soon, but warned them of the pitfalls of the Championship.

    WHAT LONG SAID

Long told BoyleSports who offer the latest Irish Premier Division Odds & Betting: "Birmingham and Wrexham could get back-to-back promotions next season, but once you get into the Championship, it’s so hard to call every season, everyone beats everyone.

"It’s impossible to call at times, you have two or sometimes three games a week and nine points can shoot you up the league and missing out can be the opposite.

"Wrexham are big in America and trying to grow the game over there, Birmingham are the bigger club here, but it’s getting closer, the Hollywood angle would make it huge for Wrexham to be in the Premier League."
