Hansi Flick’s side confirmed their coronation as the kings of Spanish football when claiming a 2-0 derby victory at RCDE Stadium. A stunning strike from 17-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal set them on their way to a decisive win.

Fermin Lopez settled the contest, which saw Espanyol reduced to 10 men when Leandro Cabrera was sent off, deep into stoppage-time. Wild celebrations were sparked at the final whistle.

Barca also claimed the Liga crown at the home of their neighbours in 2023, with Espanyol fans storming the pitch on that occasion as players were forced to race from the field. There was to be no repeat of those invasions this time around.

Espanyol were, however, determined to ensure that Barcelona did not get to celebrate in peace. Their sprinkler system was turned on immediately after the final whistle, meaning that jubilant rivals got soaked as they toasted another domestic title.

Yamal had headed straight down the tunnel at the end of an eventful contest, but joined in with post-match celebrations behind the scenes. Barca have two games left to take in this season - at home to Villarreal and away at Athletic Club.
