USMNT's Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis advance to UEFA Conference League final after two-leg thriller vs. Fiorentina

U.S. international Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis drew Fiorentina 2-2 on Thursday after extra-time in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League semifinal match with the Italian side, advancing to the final by an aggregate score of 4-3 over both legs.

After the regulation period ended 2-1 in favor of Fiorentina, a 97th-minute winner from Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli secured them a berth into the competition final, while Manchester United loanee Antony bagged the assist on the effort.

Cardoso started and played the entirety of both matches, logging 210 minutes of action plus stoppage. On Thursday's second leg, he played an integral role in the midfield, completing 93 percent of his passes and one attacking chance. In total, he registered 69 touches on the ball and completed 100 percent of his long ball attempts (three).

With the feat, the La Liga side have made their way to their first European final, where they will meet English giants Chelsea FC as they play for their first European trophy in the club's history.

Cardoso has been heavily linked with a move to a top club in Europe this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal reportedly interested in his signature.

The UECL final will take place on May 28 in Poland, as the Spanish and English sides clash for a European title.
