The France international winger is heading for the exits at Camp Nou, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/psg-trigger-ousmane-dembele-private-eur50m-release-clause-barcelona/blt4214c1d891f87071" target="_blank">a €50 million (£43m/$55m) agreement set to take him back to his homeland</a>. PSG are in the market for more attacking talent after bidding farewell to Lionel Messi and seeing Kylian Mbappe spark a long-running exit saga.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to <a href="https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/psg-ofrecio-cesion-neymar-barca-90613575 " target="_blank">SPORT</a>, the Ligue 1 champions were prepared to part with another forward in order to sweeten a deal with Barca for Dembele. It is claimed that Neymar was offered to the Liga title holders on a season-long loan, with the Brazil international having previously pushed for a return to Catalunya.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

That offer has, however, been snubbed. Barca have <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/explained-two-reasons-barcelona-ruled-out-bringing-neymar-back-camp-nou-psg/blt4fa247544e7b0745" target="_blank">no desire to welcome Neymar back</a> into their ranks as his salary would cause them more problems amid a period of financial difficulty, while he is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-brazil-casemiro-names-top-three-greatest-players-his-generation/blt619a96908180bd67" target="_blank">no longer the match-altering talent that he once was</a> as an injury-prone 31-year-old.

Neymar spent four years at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, scoring 105 goals and claiming a number of major honours alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. He left for Paris in a record-breaking €222m (£192m/$243m), but has found the going tough in France at times and has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-key-complete-arsenal-julio-baptista-gunners-make-unhappy-psg-forward-smile-again/bltfa4b560e61fe4450" target="_blank">linked with clubs across Europe in the current window</a>.
