Surely not?! Real Madrid linked with stunning move to reappoint Roma boss Jose Mourinho once Carlo Ancelotti departs for Brazil

Ancelotti is expected to leave Madrid at the end of the season to take over as Brazil boss and the Santiago Bernabeu side are looking for his replacement.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Mourinho's name is being floated around the capital club as a preferred candidate to occupy the hot seat. The Portuguese coach is currently in charge of Roma but will likely leave when his contract ends this summer.

Ancelotti appears set to take over at the helm of the Brazil national team once his contract at Madrid expires at the end of the season. Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues has said that the experienced Italian coach will come in to take Fernando Diniz's place in the summer.

However, Mundo Deportivo's report says that the 64-year-old would accept an offer to extend his Madrid deal should the club make one.

Mourinho spent three years in charge of Madrid, joining the club after he guided Inter to the European and Italian treble. His spell in charge was fraught with controversy as the rivalry with Barcelona and Pep Guardiola intensified. Mourinho guided the club to one La Liga title in 2012 and then departed a year later after what he labelled the worst season of his career and was replaced by Ancelotti.

Mourinho and Ancelotti will see out their contracts at their respective clubs before making their next moves.
