Mohamed Salah brutally trolls Dominik Szoboszlai over Florian Wirtz's potential Liverpool shirt number as Reds' No.8 faces serious competition from £116m new signing

Liverpool finally announced the £116 million ($155m) signing of the 22-year-old from Bayer Leverkusen last week and now Salah has taken no time to poke fun at Szoboszlai. The Hungary international wears the number eight shirt for the Reds but Wirtz has worn that one when representing Germany in the past. That may have prompted Salah to suggest that the midfielder relinquishes that shirt number next season.

After Liverpool uploaded a photo of Wirtz's new shirt, Salah commented on the Instagram post: "Number 8 ? @szoboszlaidominik," followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Liverpool have made a statement signing with Wirtz's signature and that may potentially limit Szoboszlai's place in the team next season. The 24-year-old has played in central midfield but also as an attacking midfielder over the past two seasons at Anfield, so Wirtz, 22, could put his starting XI spot under threat.

The Premier League champions will see their players return for pre-season training in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see if Szoboszlai and Wirtz can fit together in the same starting XI or if something has to give.
