A big raise for Mike Maignan! Goalkeeper close to new contract that will see him join Rafael Leao as AC Milan's highest-paid player

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are in the process of tying their keeper to a new deal, with his current terms expiring in 2026. The report states the 28-year-old wants to double his salary, which would take him to a pay package in the ballpark of forward Leao, who reportedly earns €7 million (£6m/$8m) a year.

French international Maignan has become an important player for Milan since joining from Lille in 2021. He played a key role in helping them win Serie A in 2022, with the stopper winning the Best Goalkeeper award in the division that season. If they can extend his stay at the San Siro, that would be a big boost for the Italian giants.

The report states talks over a new deal will continue over the next few weeks and both the club and Maignan are keen to reach an agreement before the summer window, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain linked with the Frenchman.

Before a new contract is agreed, Milan travel to Frosinone in Serie A on Saturday evening, looking to close the gap to bitter rivals and league leaders Inter to five points.
