Mason Greenwood tells advisors Barcelona transfer is his 'dream' as La Liga champions make Man Utd outcast a priority summer target

Greenwood has managed to rebuild his career on loan at Getafe this season, with Manchester United having sanctioned his departure last summer following a six-month investigation into his conduct away from the pitch. The 22-year-old has recorded seven goal contributions in his 16 La Liga appearances, attracting attention from the likes of Barca and Real Madrid in the process.

According to The Sun, Greenwood is a priority summer target for Barcelona, who want to bring him onto their books as early as June. The United outcast has informed his representatives that he sees Camp Nou as a "dream" destination, with Barca officials confident he has all the qualities to take the team to the "next level". The report adds that United will likely include a series of add-ons in any deal that will depend on how many games Greenwood plays for Barca, and possibly England.

Greenwood has only won one England cap so far, back in 2020, but hasn't given up on earning a recall to Gareth Southgate's squad. The Getafe star has also been linked with clubs in Italy, but is eager to continue making a name for himself in La Liga, with United braced to receive a formal offer from Barca in the coming months.

The Sun also states that United are eager to sell Greenwood outright at the end of the season as they seek to open a "new chapter" under INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who have purchased a 25 percent stake in the club. Greenwood saw charges for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm dropped in February last year and remains under contract at Old Trafford unti 2025, but United performed a U-turn on reintegrating him back into the first team squad after a public backlash. A huge move to Barca awaits, but for now, Greenwood will remain focused on his duties at Getafe and a home fixture against Granada on Monday.
