Man Utd get their revenge against Brentford! Red Devils hijack Bees' move for Senegal whizkid after securing £71m Bryan Mbeumo deal

Metz starlet Idrissa Gueye is the player attracting interest from the Red Devils and the Bees. He is only 18 years of age and considered to be a hot prospect - with Premier League new boys Burnley and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund also monitoring his situation.

Brentford had hoped to have a clear run at the youngster, as they seek to reinvest some of the £71 million ($95m) raised from Mbeumo’s sale to Old Trafford. The race is now on, with it possible that Gueye will cost more than his initial £15m ($20m) asking price.

The Sun claims that United are ready to make a move as they see Gueye as a "long-term project" - with Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha already being added to their attacking ranks this summer.

Gueye has only been with Metz - who secured promotion into Ligue 1 last season - since January, when he completed a switch from Generation Foot in his homeland, but has progressed quickly since then and was part of the Senegal squad that enjoyed a 3-1 friendly win over England in June.
