Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho open to Fulham return as Reds plan on cutting his RB Leipzig loan short

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp's side have opened formal discussion with the German club about recalling the 21-year-old in January due to his lack of playing time since arriving in the summer.

Speaking on the possibility of Carvalho returning to the Premier League, Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder downplayed the rumours regarding the termination of his loan deal.

"These are typical power games. Fabio has a contract until summer 2024, we're absolutely happy with him. We want the kid to scratch and bite. He will get his playing time," he told BILD.

Carvalho has made just six appearances in the top flight of German football for Leipzig, with just one of these outings arriving in the starting line-up.

The report goes on to state that Liverpool would ideally like to send the player elsewhere, with sources close to Carvalho claiming he would be open to a return to Fulham, the club he departed in 2022 to make the move to Anfield.

His future is currently uncertain and he must concentrate on preparing for each Leipzig fixture in the event he is given an opportunity to impress. The Portuguese playmaker played eight minutes against Hoffenheim on Saturday, with a tough clash against Werder Bremen now approaching on Tuesday.
