Mbappe scores first career free-kick
X account with 200k followers to shut down
Account dedicated to Mbappe's zero free-kick goals
'Has Mbappe scored a free-kick' is an account on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that had gained a massive following of over 200,000 following the Frenchman's early struggles for form since joining Real Madrid. The account had gained over 16 million impressions as they posted daily reminders that the 2018 World Cup winner had not scored a free-kick in his career.
The owner of the X account has now announced that the once-iconic page will be sold or deactivated, as Mbappe finally scored a long-awaited free-kick. The owner also posted a message congratulating the Frenchman as they wrote: "Well, in any case, congratulations Mbappe, it was a fair fight!"
WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?
Real Madrid are now only alive in La Liga's title hunt and Mbappe will be hoping that his first season with Los Blancos does not end up trophyless. However, the Frenchman and Real Madrid will have to toil hard to win the trophy as the Catalan side sit four points clear at the top of the standings.
