'100 per cent a penalty' - Jurgen Klopp fumes at controversial Jeremy Doku decision as Liverpool boss insists foul on Alexis Mac Allister was 'clear to people with iPads' after Man City escape Anfield with point

Klopp, alongside most of the footballing world, was adamant that his side should have received a penalty when Jeremy Doku caught Alexis Mac Allister high on the chest in the box late in the Premier League clash. The German boss explained that the analysts in his coaching staff, watching the game on iPads, felt the decision was going to be overturned and a spot-kick would be awarded. No penalty was given, however, leaving Doku a relieved man and Klopp an angry one.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Klopp said: "It was 100 per cent a penalty. They will find an explanation. It was 100% a foul in all areas of the pitch and probably a yellow card. All the people with iPads around me were: 'Wow, clear'. Maybe they can hide behind the phrase it is not clear and obvious. It is of course a penalty but we didn't get it and that is fine. The most important thing for me is that we can play football like that. I saw so many sensational performances today."

Had Liverpool been awarded a last-minute winner to snatch the points away from City, they would have returned to the top of the Premier League. However, a draw means that Arsenal remain top of the table with just 10 games to go. The Gunners' victory over Brentford on Saturday meant they were set to take advantage of one, or both, of City and Liverpool dropping points. Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the late decision not to award a penalty.

The Liverpool boss won't be wasting much time wondering what could have been and will look to return to winning ways against Sparta Prague. The Reds have a 5-1 lead going into the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie.
